Teddy Collins lost his brother, Rodney as a child. Rodney was only 10 years old when a stray bullet from a gang related shooting found him. This horrible event in Teddy’s life has led him to help other families in need that are in similar situations.
In Rochester, MN there are countless kids and young adults looking for a place to belong. T&K Basketball provides a place to learn about the game of basketball while being in a safe environment. Teddy’s goal in hosting these tournaments is to keep kids off the streets while fostering an atmosphere that encourages them to create relationships with one another.
Teddy has been a one man show in regards to planning, implementing, and paying for the tournaments. As more youths from the community join T&K Basketball, resources are needed to continue the growth and run the tournaments. Teddy Collins exemplifies service above self or putting others needs before his own. He has taken a personal tragedy and turned it into something for the greater good. His passion for youth to steer clear of gangs, drugs, and violence is admirable. Teddy Collins is the reason I support T&K Basketball.
Teddy & T&K basketball has been great for the youth in our community. He’s giving kids an outlet that’s not readily accessible here in Rochester. That’s what it’s all about, helping the kids in the community & T&K Basketball does just that.
